Traditional Saree Drapes | Bhootheyara
The Bhootheyara drape comes from northern Karnataka and is worn by the Bhootha Aradhane performers. Though not widely worn outside ritual contexts, it remains a vital part of Bhootha Aradhane traditions and continues to be passed down among practitioner families.
Products used:
This drape features:
- A cotton or checked saree, typically five or six yards
- A between-the-legs drape secured in a tight tuck for mobility
- Ends tied in a bow at the front or back
- A pallu tied or wrapped around the chest for support, sometimes used as a head covering
